Communicating via e-mail has now become an integral part of the communication cycle as it is a cheaper and convenient way to address a formal and written form of information. Generally accessed to send or receive e-mails, your Gmail account is a storehouse of all your important information, files, documents, folders, pictures, and many other things. Serving you efficiently with its easy-to-use interface and functioning, the Gmail is a popular e-mail client, whose services are acclaimed by users located across various industries. According to the reports published in The Verge on June 28, 2012 – the number of active Gmail users were 425 million however, the current stats will be way beyond expectations. But the recent change in the Gmails interface and look has made the users a bit annoyed and frustrated while using this simplest yet efficient email client.

Why Google has changed its previous look and what challenges users are facing now?

An active Gmail user might have noticed that the company has changed the entire look and appearance of its mail tool that was rolled out about a year ago. The look and appearance of the Compose window have been overhauled entirely and is provided with more features and options to make your mails more credible and efficient. Earlier, the user can view the composed mail on the full screen, while the changed interface has shifted the same to bottom-right corner in form of a simple small window.

This small Window will appear automatically, whenever a user hits that Compose button from the pane of options located on the left-hand side of the screen. The company claims that they have revamped the Gmail in order to let users experience an improved user-platform and enabling them to quickly compose new emails. Some users applauded this change, while others felt frustrated and tried looking for an option that will help them to roll back to the old compose window. Google doesnt provide any options to do the same and users will have to stick to the same interface that have been provided by the company.

What is the solution to this issue?

Fortunately, some third-parties realized the need of bringing back the old Compose window in Gmail and have offered the solution in form of browser extensions. The browser extensions work excellently as an ideal medium to enjoy the old email experience by simply installing them to their respective browsers. Keeping the options limited, the browser extensions are only made available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and here you can find the steps to install the same:

How to bring back the old Compose window using Chrome?

Step1. Go to the Old Compose page located on the Chrome Web Store website.

Step2. Click on the FREE button from the top-right corner and wait for the pop-up to appear.

Step3. The pop-up will ask that You really want to add the selected extension to your browser? Now, click on the Add button and the extension will be added to your browser.

Step4. On successful installation of the browser extension a success message will appear on your screen and you can then see the extension icon, located in your extension bar.

Step5. Now, visit the Gmail website and click on the Compose button to see the full-sized new email window.

How to bring back the old Compose window in Firefox?

Step1. Go to the Old Compose extension page on the Firefox add-ons website and click on the Add to Firefox button.

Step2. Once the extension is downloaded, the browser will ask you to install it. Click on the Install Now button and it will install the extension in your browser.

Step3. Once the extension is successfully installed, you will get a confirmation message about it and you will be required to visit the Gmail website and check the same.

Although, adopting a change is always a good practice but some users might feel that the new Compose window is confusing and relatively smaller than the previous one. These browser extensions have been specifically developed and designed for such users to bring back their old, full-screen Compose window back to their Gmail accounts. You can uninstall the browser extension in future, if you wish to go back to the smaller window. Till then, frame, draft, and compose your emails the way you want to do!
